William Edward Higgins

10-28-1943  -  6-22-2021

Bill Higgins was born in Seattle in 1943 and lived on Beacon Hill for the first 3 years of his life. His family then moved to Tacoma and settled on McKinley Hill. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School ('57), Bellarmine Prep ('61) and graduated from Seattle University ('65) with a degree in accounting.

He delivered newspapers for the Tacoma News Tribune as a young boy and painted Boeing airplanes at the Renton plant while in university. He was a tax accountant for more than 50 years and a general contractor for numerous commercial and residential developments throughout Pierce County.

He died on June 22nd from injuries suffered in a car accident on June 2nd. He was surrounded by his family and showered with love and prayers as he passed. He is survived by his sons Christopher (Aurora and daughters Maia and Chiara), London, England and James (Morgan), Skagway, Alaska. Bill is also survived by his sisters; Joanne Moore (Jim), Kathleen Thiemann (Ken), Linette Lasher (Chuck), Barbara Graves (Patrick), Patricia Kennedy (Michael) and Christy Higgins (Gary Evans) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Edward, his mother, Nicolina Mary, and his sister Mary Francis.

Bill loved accounting, playing cribbage, salmon fishing, travelling to see family and friends, playing casino slots, golfing, eating dessert and he always ironed his denim jeans. Bill supported many organizations through charitable giving, but as a cancer survivor, Relay for Life was his most loved.

His family would like to thank the St. Joseph's Hospital ICU (6B) staff, as well as their palliative care team. A service will be held at Bellarmine Prep in the St. Aloysius Chapel August 21st at 10am with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma.
