Thomas Hohensinner Obituary

Thomas Francis Hohensinner, of Tacoma, Washington, peacefully passed away of Monday, August 22, 2022 at 92 years old.

Thomas, fondly known as Tom, or Colonial Tom, was born on October 4, 1929 in Tacoma, Washington to Frank and Alice Hohensinner. He was their only son and had four sisters.

After graduating from Puyallup High School, Tom went to work in the logging camps near Shelton to help support his family. After working there a short time, Tom enlisted with the Washington National Guard. While serving, he met his first wife Betty, who passed away in 1974. Together, they had three children.

Once Tom retired from the National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonial in 1982, he briefly worked for Cablecraft in Tacoma before starting his 10-year career as a Head Groundskeeper at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. He enjoyed working in the greenhouse and mentoring others with his vast knowledge. Tom was a straight-shooter, and was a man of honesty and integrity.

In 1983, Tom married Joyce, his wife of 39 years. Together, they enjoyed travelling, fishing, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends.

Throughout his life, Tom was an avid gardener, fisherman, and Seattle sports fan. He loved watching the Seahawks, Mariners, Huskies, and most recently, the Wyoming Cowboys. He also enjoyed going to breakfast every Sunday with his Breakfast Club and spending time at the Eagles. He was a member of the AERIE #2308 Puyallup Eagles for 51 years, and held various positions within the chapter. Tom also looked forward to attending his Puyallup High School class of 1947 luncheons and catching up with classmates. Towards the end of his life, Tom found joy watching old westerns and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; sisters Mitzi and Helen; children Scott, Ange and Chris; stepchildren Lynda, Ronnie and Lisa; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Alice, wife Betty, and sisters Dolores and Mary Alice.

Tom was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.

A private ceremony will be held for Tom at the Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to PAWS, or to your favorite charity. He will be greatly missed.
