Martha McMeel

Beloved mother, grand­mother, sister and aunt; Mar­tha McMeel died peacefully with her son John, by her side. Martha grew up in Ta­coma, and graduated from Lincoln High School. After graduating, Martha began working as a riveter for Boe­ing. She then married Basil A. McMeel on February 14, 1948 and began their family. Martha gave birth to seven children Carol, Jeff, John, Kathy, Brenda, Becky and Barb. After Basil passed away unexpectedly,from an old war injury, the family moved to Olympia in 1969. Martha took a job working for Thurston County Courts, and then eventually work­ing for WSDOT. Shere­tired in 1991 and enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, and gardening. Martha has eight grandchildren, Katie, Patrick, Erin, Trevor, The­resa, Kelsey, Tommy and Christopher. She has four great-grandchildren, Millie, Piper, J.P. and Max. Mar­tha was preceded in death by her husband Basil and young daughter, Kathy. Martha was loved by so many and her memory will be carried in our hearts forever.
