It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Clara "Ama" Greer, who departed this life on January 2, 2024, just days shy of her 83rd birthday. Clara was a cherished mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Known affectionately as Ama by some, Clara was born on January 4, 1941, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Clara will be warmly remembered by those who survive her including her beloved husband of over six decades, Ed Greer. Her spirit continues to live on in her daughters, Susie Whitlock and Chris Johnson, and their spouses, David Whitlock and Mike Johnson respectively. Clara's legacy extends to her cherished grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Brynn Jensen, and Alyssa Jensen, who brought her immense joy and comfort.
Clara graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington in 1959, and two years later, marked the beginning of her lifelong partnership with her husband, Ed. Clara enjoyed a long career as an Office Coordinator with the Tacoma School District, where she was dedicated to supporting the students, families and staff at Stanley and Delong Elementaries. She retired in 2002 to take care of her new twin granddaughters.
Clara was best known for her kind, helpful, and fun personality. Her greatest accomplishment was the close-knit family she built and nurtured with love and care. Clara's favorite recreational activities were those that brought her closer to her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren. The love and generosity Clara displayed throughout her life will forever be her enduring legacy.
A Memorial service in honor of Clara will take place on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held following the service at 1238 S Karl Johan Ave. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Clara to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
