Barbara Kennedy-Ott Obituary

Our beloved Barbara was born on April 29, 1942 to Eldon Jack Kennedy and Esther Louise (O'Brien) and left us to be with the Lord on April 19, 2022.
Barbara was born and raised in Tacoma, attended St. Leo's and Aquinas. She left her senior year, graduating from Wilson High School because the nuns accused her of talking in the bathroom -which she said she didn't and refused to have detention every day! She liked to test the nuns' patience by coming to school with pink hair and cruising around in the convertible with her brothers, Jack and Tom.

She graduated from Bates Cosmetology School and once licensed, she worked many years with her girlfriends at Chat and Curl Beauty Shop, where they had lots of great times! She always made sure her own hair was just perfect! She fell in love with the love of her life, Fritz, while skating at Lakewood Ice Arena. They eloped in Coeur d' Alene, with four flat tires along the way! They had five children, enjoyed trips to Palm Springs and just celebrated their 60th anniversary in March!

Heartbroken loved ones surviving her: Fritz, children: Kelli(Tom), Kasey(Cindi), Kimi(Dan), Kriss (Jennifer), Kourtney. Grands: Kaylee (Harrison), Kyle (Lindsey), Marissa (Steven), Madison, Allison, and Estella. Greats: Reese Rose and Kennedy Jade and many cherished extended family members and friends, furry Babies: Billie Bob and Essie Mae-who were by her bedside until the end.

Barbara was known for her sweet and sassy personality, optimistic and gracious disposition, her infectious smile, laugh and her beautiful blue eyes. She was the rock of our family and very close to her Mom, "Gigi". They were inseparable and regulars at St. Leo's Saturday mass . We are comforted they are together once again in heaven. Mom loved ALL babies and children, personally meeting them on her many shopping trips to Walgreens, where she would load up on all the best deals-especially hard candies to fill her plastic Ziploc bag in her purse!! Then she would head over to Curves for her daily workout, stopping to get her favorite frappucino or slurpee! Her perfect attendance at Curves earned her a spot on the board, which she was most proud of!

Words can't express how heartbroken we are.. we will always keep her close to her our hearts, remembering and cherishing all the wonderful memories we had with her.

Donations made be made to St. Leo's or your favorite charities.
