Arline Mussig Obituary

Arline Frances Mussig, born on December 7, 1936, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2022.

Arline was born to Henry and Georgiana Carl in Harrah, Washington. She grew up with her four siblings, Lucy, Dale, Leonard, and Loreen.

After moving to Tacoma, Washington, Arline met Laurence (Larry) Mussig. It was love at first sight. After a short courtship, Arline and Larry were married on February 21st, 1959. The two were married for 60 years.

Arline was predeceased by her husband Larry Mussig and son Bruce Mussig. She is survived by her son Dana (Merrilee) Mussig, daughter Tina Mussig, son Michael Mussig, and foster daughter Dorothy Peters. As well as her grandchildren Amanda Mussig, Sarah (Isidro) Castro, Hailey Mussig, Shaylin Mussig, Ashley (Gavin) Thysens, Kelsey Mussig, Ginny (Chris) Lemagie, Greg (Maria) Peters, and her great-grandchildren Cameron Lemagie, Connor Lemagie, Casen Lemagie, and Callan Thysens.

Arline and Larry had a beautiful life together where they raised their four children. Arline worked at Tower Lanes and taught bowling to children. She was also the first female coach for the boy’s baseball team. After she stopped teaching bowling lessons, she remained an active bowler and continued to bowl with her bowling team for many years.

In her younger years, Arline enjoyed the trips the family would take in the motorhome down to Reno. On the ride down, she would have a couple of drinks and play cards with her brother, sisters, and their spouses. Playing cards with her family became an activity that brought them all together.

Arline helped Larry with all the odd jobs that he loved to do. She helped him build prams, flipped houses, with the family, and painted all the birdhouses and whirligigs that Larry created. For any project that Larry wanted to do, Arline was there to support him.

Arline’s love of baseball continued throughout her life. For many years she had season tickets for the Tacoma Rainiers. She took many of her children and grandchildren to baseball games and always made note of which players had the best physique.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, sudoku, and playing spider solitaire or her casino games on her tablet. She made all kinds of baby sweaters, hats, hoodies, washcloths, and lap blankets. After completing a project, most items were donated to nursing homes or children in need. Arline was a perfectionist. If she found one tiny mistake, she would go back, tear it out, and begin again. She wanted to produce the best quality of work.

Arline had a big heart and was known for her unconditional love. She would do anything to support the ones she loved and ensure that everyone was taken care of.
