Obituary Sophie Rothstein Sussman, born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1916, died suddenly on January 8, 2012. She moved to Tacoma when she married her husband, Leslie Sussman, in 1937, where she raised a family and resided for more than 60 years. After the death of her husband she moved to Seattle to be near her family. Sophie was an active member of the Tacoma Jewish community and a patron of Tacoma's artistic institutions. Among her notable charities were Temple Beth El, the Tacoma Art Museum, the Seattle and Tacoma Jewish Federations and the Parkinson's Foundation. She will be sadly missed by her survivors: her son Alan Sussman of New York, her granddaughters Megan Rose Stolber, Alisa Rose, Emily Sussman Needle, Anna Sussman, her grandson Michael Rose, and eight great grandchildren: Jesse, Ari, Samantha, Olivia, Evan, Lilly, Isobel and Sussman. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Paula Rose. The funeral will take place Wednesday, January 11 at 1 pm at the Home of Peace Cemetery in Lakewood.
