With profound sorrow, we announce the death of Rhio Reh (Morrone) Gillis.
On September 9, 1943, Ida and Michael Morrone welcomed Rhio, in Hollywood, CA, as the first of their five children: Rhio, Roberta, Richard, Robert, and Rhion. She graduated from St. Charles Borromeo parish school in North Hollywood, CA in 1957, and Providence High School in Burbank, CA in 1961.
In the summer of 1963, she married James P Gillis. They had four children: John, Colleen, Kathleen, and James. For many years Rhio and Jim were very active at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Sherman Oaks, CA and became active with the Marriage Encounter movement.
In 1982, Jim became seriously ill, diagnosed with cancer, and died within weeks.
In 1986 Rhio entered another chapter of her life when she married Gregory Wiedower, who now survives her. They moved to Washington, living in Redmond for several years before moving to Gig Harbor. A few years later they joined St. Charles Borromeo parish in Tacoma. Rhio’s quick and easy smile and warm personality, immediately helped neighbors and people she met feel comfortable around her.
The last 20 years Rhio has faced multiple health challenges which left her weak and in constant pain. But on April 1, 2026, Jesus welcomed her home in peace.
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” (John 20:21)
Amen. So be it!... forever and ever… with God… at home…
