Obituary Fr. John E. Koehler Fr. John E Koehler, 79, died April 15, 2013. Born in Toledo, OH he moved to Tacoma in 1940 when his father came to Tacoma to manage the Tacoma Tigers. Fr. John graduated from St. Leo's Grade school; and Bellarmine High School before attending the Jesuit Novitiate in Sheridan, OR. He was ordained in the Society of Jesus on June 12, 1965. Fr. John would later get his Ph.D in mathematics from the U of W and go on to teach at Ball State, Hunter College and Seattle University. On March 4, 1982 he was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Seattle, where he would minister in parishes from Centralia to Seattle. Fr. John loved the outdoors, baseball, hiking, travelling both locally and abroad including a recent trip to the Holy Land. He loved the Arts and volunteered at both the Tacoma Art Museum and the Washington State History Museum. He is survived by his brother, Thomas, San Jose, CA; niece, Paula; nephew, David (Toby) and their two children.
