Listen to Obituary

Norma H. Graham (nee Chavet) of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tacoma entered eternal life on Sunday, February 15, following a brief illness. Norma was born on April 1, 1931, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to Walter and Helen (Davis) Chavet. When seeking work during the Great Depression, her father brought his family to Puyallup, Washington, where Norma resided until her marriage to Harold J. Graham in 1963.

The Grahams joined Holy Cross Parish in 1979, and in 1983—along with several other parishioners—Norma helped begin Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at Holy Cross, which has continued until the present. Norma was a daily Mass attendee and faithful Eucharistic Adorer until prevented by failing health.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years, and siblings Allen, Irma, and Stephen. She is survived by daughter Sister Andrea Marie (Sharlene) Graham, O.P., of Nashville, daughter Aime Graham (husband Chip McDonald) of Los Angeles, and niece Jody (husband Buddy) Biggers of Oklahoma City.

Special thanks are given to all the friends, family, and Dominican Sisters who were praying for Norma during this time; the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital; and caregiver Lena.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Friday, February 20, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5504 N 44th St, Tacoma, at 10AM, preceded by the recitation of the Rosary in the church. A light reception of coffee and pastries will follow Mass; interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church; the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia, Nashville, TN; and Catholic Charities of Western Washington.
