Obituary Nancy Jean Glump Nancy was born on May 30, 1936 to Bonnell and Edna Glump in Tacoma, WA. Following a long battle with Alzheimer's, Nancy went home to be with her parents and her brother, Tom, on December 5, 2012. After graduating from Aquinas Academy in 1954, Nancy entered the convent and was a Tacoma Dominican Sister ("Sr. Mary Edna," "Sr. Nancy") for 28 years. Her 40-year career focused on teaching children in elementary schools in Tacoma (St. Patrick's), San Diego (St. Francis), and Seattle (Assumption, St. Edward's, Mt. Virgin and St. George) until her retirement in 1999. Her gentle, yet lively and innovative spirit made her an especially loved teacher. Through the years many of her former students and their families have stayed in touch with her and our family often hears, "Miss Glump (or Sr. Nancy) was my favorite teacher ever!" Nancy was very talented and, among other things, was famous for her culinary skills and creative cake decorating. She is survived by her sister Susie Hofstedt, nephews Michael and Greg, and nieces Kim and Laura and their children, Sarah, Megan, Katie, Bridget, Zane and Declan. She is also survived by Sister Imelda Romei, her close friend of over 50 years, who was her loving caretaker during her long and difficult illness. Our family is especially grateful to Sister Imelda and the Tacoma Dominican Sisters for their continued love of Nancy, and for the wonderful care given by the Providence Sisters at St. Joseph Residence in West Seattle. Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to St. George Parish School, 5117 13th Ave. S., in Seattle for the scholarship fund established in her name when she retired. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. St. Vincent, 4831 35th Ave. SW, in Seattle. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
