Michael "Mike" Politeo
Michael "Mike" Politeo of Tacoma, Washington, was born on January 15, 1957 and passed away on April 7, 2026 at the age of 69.
Born and raised in Tacoma, Mike was a lifelong resident who truly embodied the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. He attended St. Patrick’s School, Bellarmine Preparatory School, and graduated from Washington State University, where he became a proud and avid Coug alum. He remained deeply connected to WSU throughout his life, cheering on the Cougars with unwavering enthusiasm.
Mike enjoyed a long and successful career as a real estate agent in the Tacoma and greater Pierce County area, working for Coldwell Banker. Deeply involved in his community, he served as President of the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club and on its board, was a member of the local Habitat for Humanity board and served on the Bellarmine Alumni Association board. He also served as Tournament Director of the Pacific Northwest Tennis Championships for 12 years ending in 2016.
Mike is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Lisa) Politeo; his children, Spencer Politeo, Claire Politeo, and John Politeo; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
A dedicated family man, Mike found his greatest joy in the lives of his wife and children. He cherished traveling with his family and creating lasting memories together. Known for his warm personality and quick wit. Mike loved to reminisce about his past and happily shared stories from his life.
He will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to community service, his passion for his family and friends, his strong Coug spirit, and the many ways he gave back to the Tacoma and Pierce County area.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his dear friends who stayed closely connected with him, especially over the past 10 years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to the Washington State University Cougar Athletic Fund or a charity of your choice.
