Obituary Michael J. Dueker Michael J. Dueker, born December 6, 1963, passed January 29, 2014. He was a loving husband and father who was a guiding light in the daily lives of his wife, Alicia and son, Markus. His family, friends and colleagues appreciated his brilliant mind. He will be remembered as always being fun, kind, smart and witty. He loved traveling, running and reading and was the master scheduler of family activities. He will always be remembered and loved. Mike graduated from Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, OR as Valedictorian in 1982. He attended the University of Denver, Whitman College and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1986 with a BA in Mathematics and Minor in Spanish. He received his M.A., in Economics from Northwestern University in 1987, and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington in 1991. He was a Research Economist and Assistant Vice-President at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1991-2008. In 2008 he joined Russell Investment as Chief Economist for North America. While with the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank he developed a model of U.S. recessions that provided the basis for a business cycle index. As Chief Economist for Russell Investments, Mike wrote for Russell's Market Outlook publications, forecasting the business cycle and the target federal funds rate. He developed and maintained a business cycle index published monthly on Russell.com. He also was one of 50 forecasters for both Blue Chip Ecnomic Indicators and Blue Chip Financial Forecasts. Mike is survived by his wife, Alicia; his son, Markus; parents, Ken and Donna Dueker; and sister, Michelle Carey. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7112 S. 12th Street, Tacoma, WA 98465 with a reception to follow. In addition, a Life Celebration event will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, location in Tacoma to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Michael Dueker in honor of Donna Dueker, or to the United Way of Pierce County.
