Merilyn Gail Moore (Wise)

December 25, 1943 – May 20, 2025

Merilyn Gail Moore (née Wise) passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 81. Born on Christmas Day in 1943 in Long Beach, California, she was the only child of Edward Anson Wise and Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Upton, both of whom preceded her in death.

Merilyn is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Terrence Moore; her children, Susan Price Davis and Robert Harold Price III (Jackie); and her four stepdaughters, Meghan Moore, Angela Moore Dluger (Marc), Kelly Moore Bertisch (Flynn), and Laura Moore. She and Terry shared 11 beloved grandchildren: Ryan, Brendan (Ashley), Evan (Madee), and Megan Davis; Nicholas and Benjamin Price; Morgan and Cameron Bertisch; Ian "PJ" Moore; and Jacob and Colin Dluger.

A proud graduate of The Colorado College, Merilyn earned her degree in Sociology with the class of 1965. She also had her teaching certificate. Her early years were marked by adventure, traveling the world as both a military child and later a military spouse. Over four decades, she lived in many different locations, including Japan, Germany, Kansas, Florida, Arizona, Colorado and Virginia . As a spirited and curious child, she collected snakes and even had a pet tarantula.

Merilyn eventually made Anchorage, Alaska her home, where she became one of the city’s top Realtors and worked successfully for over 30 years. She was known not only for her sharp intellect and professionalism but also for her deep love of reading—often finishing several books each week. She also had and a passion for bridge.

In 2010, Merilyn and Terry retired to Tacoma, where they spent the last 15 years enjoying life together. Her vibrant spirit, quick wit, and boundless love for her family and friends will be missed immensely by all who knew her.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
