Melissa Joy McCann

Melissa Joy McCann passed away peacefully at the age of 44 on Saturday April 5th after a long and courageous 5 year battle with breast cancer. She was born October 4, 1980 in Tacoma Washington where she lived until her sophomore year in high school.

During those years in Tacoma, she played all over the North End with her friends and brother riding bikes, going to the park, going on adventures (like walking through the train tunnel in Ruston! Which her mother didn't find out until many years later!) and in the evenings while walking along with friends if a car would drive by, they would all jump into a yard and freeze like lawn jockeys hoping not to be noticed.

Her and her brother loved to go down to the little neighborhood store (Renners) for penny candy. Their Uncle Dan used to stop by in his work truck quite often giving them the change in his pocket to go get their candy. It got to the point he would drive by really slow to make sure they would see him and sure enough they did and would go flying out the door to catch him. I think he liked it just as much as they did.

She also loved going out and riding the sea doos. If she had a passenger on the back, she made it her mission to try to dump them off by making crazy turns.

In her later years she worked at Subway, then worked several years caring for children at a daycare center which she seemed to enjoy.

In 2002 her first son Tristen Michael was born. Then in 2014, along came her second son Colin Paul. Although she had some struggles in her life, she Loved her boys very much.

Melissa was proceeded in death by her dad Michael (Mike). She is survived by her mom Christine (Chris), Sons Tristen and Colin, Brother Dustin (Sarah), niece Maci, nephew Kai, Boyfriend Oly, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Although you left us too soon, you will never be forgotten. We Love you Melissa Joy.
