Margaret Mary Jelic began her journey to America in 1931, crossing the Atlantic Ocean under the loving heart of her mother, Milica, alongside her brother, Vinko, and her sister, Jelisava (Elsie), to reunite with their father, Matthew, in the United States.
A lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Margaret peacefully fell asleep in the arms of her beloved Jesus at 11:00 p.m. on June 28, 2026. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted Perpetual Adorer, served faithfully as Treasurer of the Catholic Daughters Council at Blessed Lady of the Narrows, and was a proud member of the Croatian Fraternal Union for as long as anyone can remember.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Parish in Tacoma. Rosary at 10:15 a.m. prior to Mass.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Milica and Matthew Jerkovich, and her dear brothers, Lincoln and Vinko. She is survived by her cherished sister, Jelisava (Elsie), with whom she shared an extraordinary bond and more than 35 years together in Ruston.
She was a loving mother to Anthony (Molly), Lisa (Michael), and Joseph (Mary), and a devoted grandmother to Hannah (Cameron), Adam (Sydney), and Louis, each of whom brought tremendous joy to her life.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the many family members, friends, neighbors, and the dedicated men and women of the Ruston Police and Fire Departments. Your unwavering kindness, friendship, compassion, and support over the years allowed Margaret and Elsie to remain in the home and community they loved for as long as possible. Your care meant more than words can express, and your generosity will never be forgotten. We are profoundly grateful for the countless acts of kindness extended to the family throughout the years.
Margaret's life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, friendship, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
