Obituary Lillian M. McCarthy December 30, 1922 - April 26, 2012 Born in Laurel, Montana, Lillian moved to Tacoma as a very young child. She graduated from Lincoln High School and later attended Bates Voc-Tech. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard McCarthy and her sister and brother. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Alan D. Biggs, (Lynda), daughter and son-in-law, Nancy M. Pagni (Peter) step daughter and husband Cindy McGrath (Gene) and step son Bill McCarthy, many nieces and nephews and extended family members. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, creating a nurturing home for us children. Our home was welcome to all our friends throughout our childhood and she especially enjoyed hosting the many victory parties of the great Lincoln football Championship teams of the early 60's in which Alan played. She later worked at a Tacoma Mortgage company for 20 years before retiring at the age of 62 to spend many wonderful years with Leonard enjoying their beautiful home and yard as well as traveling. They were blessed with neighbors who we all considered family. She was inducted into the Pierce County Voter's Home of Fall in 2003 for 60 consecutive years of voting. She was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for over 50 years and in her mid 80's began volunteering at the Tacoma Lutheran Home. Every breath in her life was consumed as being a mother. We are eternally grateful for every moment on this earth with her. We are so proud to honor her as our mom and loved her dearly. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held Saturday, May 5th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 11:00, with reception to follow. Donations may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 101 East 38th Tacoma, WA.
