Leroy R. Mack, Jr. was born May 31, 1942 to Kathleen Scroggins and Leroy R. Mack, Sr in the state of Maryland. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Agnes and Arthur Scroggins.
Leroy graduated from Bel Alton High School and the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore - formerly Maryland State College. He served in the United States Army for 24 years and completed three tours in Germany and one tour in Vietnam. Upon his retirement he was awarded the Legion of Merit.
Leroy married his late wife, Loretta H. Mack, in 1971. They briefly resided in Germany, Texas, and Colorado before settling in Washington State in 1977. This union produced two children, son Terence and daughter Vanessa.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid gardener, runner, and road cyclist, and an active member of cycling clubs. A lover of jazz and blues, he volunteered at a local radio station and enjoyed sharing music with his loved ones. Always quick to lend a hand or words of encouragement to anyone in need, his kindness, optimism, and generosity of spirit will be greatly missed.
Leroy leaves to cherish his son Terence and daughter Vanessa, half brothers, Melvin (Thelery) and Anthony (Angela), half sisters Pamela Day, Darlene Mack, Theresa Posey (Theron), and a number of cousins.
Leroy will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery - 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, Washington.
