Joette Marie Haase

Joette “Jo” Marie Haase, 70, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away early in the morning on July 4th, 2026 at Tacoma General Hospital.

Jo was the oldest of 5 children, born July 10th, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Vernon and Theresa Eberhardy. She spent her youth in Mequin and later Thiensville, Wisconsin until the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when she was a teenager. There she met her husband, Jerry Haase. After their marriage, they lived in Santa Fe and later Hobbs, NM. They moved to Washington State in 1990.

Jo got her degree as a registered nurse in 1982 from New Mexico Junior College. She spent the majority of her career working in the NICU at Tacoma General Hospital. After getting her BSN in the 2010’s she converted to home care where she provided care for neonates after discharged from the NICU.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Haase of Tacoma, WA, and 2 daughters: Marie Miller of Tacoma and Jessica Haase of Port Orchard, 3 sisters: Dana Gonzales in New Mexico, Christy Kieser in South Carolina, and Theresa Bird in Arizona, and 4 grandchildren: Amelia, Oliver, Zachary, and Gabriel, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Scott Eberhardy.

On July 21st, 2026, there will be a rosary said in her memory at 9:30am preceding a funeral mass at 10am at Pope John Paul XXIII Catholic Church with Father Tuan leading the service. Burial service will follow at the Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in Federal Way at noon and a memorial reception for friends and family to gather and share memories at 12:45pm in the Pope John Paul XXIII church hall. There will be light refreshments provided. If you would like to bring a potluck dish to share it can be stored in the parish hall before the service.
