She was born on September 5, 1952, in Tacoma, Washington, to John “Jack” and Mary Evelyn Everson.
Joanie is survived by her loving husband, Cliff Cook of Gig Harbor; her children, Christopher and Jennifer Cook, Shannon and Nicolai Larsen, and Sean and Klara Cook; and eight cherished grandchildren: Kyle, Jack, and Ava (Christopher); Samantha Joan and Soren (Shannon); and Taylor, Charlie, and Leo (Sean). She is also survived by her brother, John Everson, and his children, Michael and Rachael. She was preceded in death by her parents and by Cliff’s mother, Mildred Cook.
Joanie grew up in Tacoma, attended St. Patrick’s Church, and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1970. She began her career that same year with Puget Sound National Bank and, over the course of 37 years, advanced through its successor to retire in 2007 as a Senior Vice President with Key Bank/Key Investment Services. Retirement, however, did not slow her down—she immediately returned to work alongside Cliff as a consultant in his company, a role she held with joy and dedication until her passing.
Her legacy is one of deep love and devotion. Joanie touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity and will be missed more than words can express. She will be remembered for her welcoming warmth, her sense of humor, her unwavering devotion to family, and her love of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joanie’s honor to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
