Jeanette Ann Fahey

January 15, 1924 — January 31, 2014

Obituary Jeanette Ann Fahey January 15, 1924 ~ January 31, 2014 "Her children arise and call her blessed" Proverbs 31:18 Jeanette, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, has been called home by God. Her spirit was carried gently to heaven in the arms of angels, soon after her 90th birthday. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in her home at Franke Tobey Jones Healthcare Center in Tacoma, WA. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Jeanette was born in Enumclaw, WA, the daughter of William and Bethel Ham. She graduated from Puyallup High School. In 1947, she married the love of her life, James Fahey, who preceded her in death in 1991 after 44 years of marriage. She missed him every day. Together, they raised their children in both Spokane and Tacoma. At the age of 50, Jeanette enrolled in school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She replaced child care with nursing care after her children were raised. She chose to be a nurse for the elderly, often praying with her patients as she tenderly cared for them. She wanted them to know Jesus. Jeanette demonstrated her faith in God through her unconditional love and by always putting others before herself. She will forever be remembered for her endearing smile, strength, gentleness, grace, her love for music, sense of humor and compassionate heart for serving others. Most of all, Jeanette's life was characterized by her unwavering faith, love of her family, and love of the poor, lonely and sick. Jeanette will be greatly missed by her children: Gail Patterson (John), Patrick (Jan), William (Sandy), Christopher (Karen), Thomas (Becky), and Owen (Julie). She opened her heart and home also to nephew and nieces, Jeff, Judy and JoAnne (deceased). Jeanette had great love for her grandchildren: Julie (Brock), James (Janie), John (Annie), Jack (Lisa), Stephanie (Jeff), Ryan (Jen), Jessica (Bill), Ashley (Andy), Megan (Josh), Nathan (Naomi), Caleb (Brittney), Kyle (Emily), Brenna, Ben (Kalie), Sarah (Rashid), Lucas, Dani, Jenna, Mark and 23 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Jeanette is also survived by a large extended family. Jeanette's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of the staff at Franke Tobey Jones for their compassionate and excellent care of Mom for 14 years and for their continuous support of our family. The visits paid by staff in the last few days of her life, demonstrated how she had touched many lives by her gentle presence. Thank you also to Franciscan Hospice for their gentle and loving care during Mom's final days and for the compassionate support extended to our family.
