Francis (Frank) Joseph Kurriger
Born March 30, 1930 in Muscatine, IA, Frank died peacefully at home in Tacoma, WA at the age of 95. He was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Frank grew up in Muscatine, IA with his siblings, Cletus (Pete), Patricia, Anthony (Tony), Mary Lu, and Leonard. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Muscatine, IA, and graduated from Saint Ambrose College, Davenport, IA majoring in mathematics. He married Carolyn Connell, also of Muscatine in 1956. He worked as an office manager and taught for one year at East Aurora High School in Aurora, IL. In 1963, he moved his family to Tacoma, WA to teach at Mount Tahoma H.S. During the 29 years working for Mount Tahoma, he taught math and assisted with the school’s drama program. He also was a craftsmen’s man. After his retirement, he and Carolyn traveled throughout the United States.
Frank is survived by his children, Christine (Ted) Olson, Virginia Kurriger, Katherine Kurriger, and Timothy (DiAnna) Kurriger; and his sister Mary Lu Hoover of Aurora, IL and brother Leanord Kurriger of Houston, TX. Surviving grandchildren, Ann (David) von Moritz, Sara (Ethan) Lazar, Amanda Kurriger, Andrew Olson, and Erin Olson. Surviving great-grandchildren are Adelais von Moritz, Mariele von Moritz, and Max Lazar. Frank is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Kurriger; parents, Cletus and Vale Kurriger and siblings Cletus Anthony (Pete) Kurriger, Patricia Kurriger, Anthony Kurriger, and Paul Kurriger
Public funeral services will be held at 11am on Dec. 3rd at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Tacoma, WA. Reception at the church immediately following the service.
