Elizabeth Kathleen Coleman

February 13, 1941 — September 27, 2022

Elizabeth Kathleen Coleman (Heinrick) died on September 27th, 2022, with her loving husband Dennis by her side. “Kathy” as she was known to most, was 81 years old. She was born in Tacoma, WA on February 13th, 1941, to John (coach) and Irene Heinrick. She grew up in the north end of Tacoma and attended St. Patrick’s Parish school, Jason Lee Junior High and graduated in 1959 from Stadium High School, where she was the Stadium Tiger Mascot. She also attended the University of Puget Sound.

She then moved to California, where she was an executive administrative assistant at the Okland Coliseum in California. She later returned to Tacoma and in 1970 married her husband, Dennis. They lived in Gig Harbor for 48 years and raised a family. She later worked part-time for years at Northwest Demo, as an in-store demonstrator. Kathy’s faith was particularly important to her, she was a member of both Peninsula Lutheran and St. Nicholas churches over the years.

She grew up in a very athletic family. She loved watching and playing a variety of sports as a young adult, including softball and bowling. She had a keen sense of humor and always enjoyed a good prank. Her hobbies included walking, decorating, sightseeing, and spending time with her pets. Kathy and her husband were avid music fans. They enjoyed going out to see live blues bands and displaying their impressive dance moves. Most importantly, she cherished quality time with her family and friends.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 52 years Dennis, daughters Mary Hagen, Angela Barkhouse, and son Brian Coleman. Her grandchildren Victor Campbell, Abe Coleman, and Iris Coleman. Nieces Shannon Heinrick, Karen Michna, Mary Barnes, Teresa LaRiviere, and Martha Konicek. Nephews Mike Koester and Don Heinrick. She is also survived by numerous great/great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents, siblings Jack Heinrick, Pat Koester, Margaret Heinrick, and Dennis Heinrick. There will be a public viewing at Gaffney’s funeral home in Tacoma on Wednesday Oct. 5th from 3pm-7pm with a Vigil following afterwards. She will be buried in Gig Harbor at Artondale Cemetery at 11am, followed by a Celebration of Life on Thursday Oct. 6th at 1pm at Peninsula Lutheran Church.
