Edward “Fast Eddie” Williams, 83, passed away peacefully at home during a nap, February 4, 2026. Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Ed’s life was deeply rooted in the community he loved.
He attended St. Leo’s School and Bellarmine Preparatory School before graduating from Seattle University with a degree in accounting. Ed began his career as an accountant with GE, later returning to Tacoma to work with his dad at the family dealership, Temple Motors. In the later years of his professional life, he dedicated his talents to the Archdiocese of Seattle, where he found meaningful purpose in service. Ed continued to be deeply involved with the Catholic Church, even after his retirement.
Ed was an accomplished author, sharing his voice and perspective through his writing. When he wasn’t focused on writing financial reports, he was focused on open wheel racing. A friend, Andrew Kunas, wrote the following of Ed’s contribution to open wheel racing: “A book could be written about Eddy’s time in sprint car, midget, and super modified racing around the Northwest. He served the racecar community as a writer, announcer, scheduler, promoter, sponsor and mentor. He was well known throughout the racing community and the recipient of many awards and honors.”
Ed’s accomplishments were many, but perhaps his favorite role was that of a proud father of three and grandfather of seven. If you sat with him for any amount of time, you would undoubtedly hear a story (or several) about one of the “kids”.
He will be remembered for his generosity, his calm demeanor, and great sense of humor.
Ed is survived by his wife, Deanna, his children, Michelle Williams (Craig), Colleen Baine (Marc), Rob Williams (Kasi), and his grandchildren Taylor, Bridget, Nate, Melissa, Braden, Hudson and Hollis. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen & Edward Williams.
A service to honor Ed’s life will be held on February 12, 2026 at St. Ann’s (Tacoma). A viewing will begin at 10:10, Rosary to follow at 10:30, with the service starting at 11:00.
