With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Delia Fogarty, a beloved wife, mom, Granny, sister, aunt and friend, who departed this world peacefully on June 30, 2026. Delia was born on April 24, 1950, in Lankill, Co. Mayo, Ireland, to Thomas and Catherine Greevy. She was the embodiment of warmth and kindness, qualities that she generously shared with everyone she encountered.
Delia's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, community, and faith. In 1978, she married Thomas Fogarty, with whom she built a strong and loving partnership that spanned nearly five decades. Together, they nurtured a family that became the center of Delia's world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas; her cherished children, Kathleen (Stephen) Mercer and Michael (Dustie) Fogarty; and her adored grandsons, Rowan & Conlan Fogarty and Seamus Mercer. Delia's love for her family was boundless, and she delighted in spending time with her three grandsons, showering them with affection and wisdom.
Delia's professional life was dedicated to working in child nutrition for the Auburn School District for over twenty years. Beyond her career, Delia was involved in her community. As a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, she contributed selflessly to funeral receptions, rummage sales, and the Women's Society. In her retirement, she found joy in quilting weekly at a local Lutheran church, creating quilts for missions abroad.
A woman of many talents, Delia was known for her skillful knitting and delicious homemade jams. Her daily walks at Game Farm Park were a testament to her appreciation for the simple pleasures in life and her commitment to staying active. Delia possessed a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome; she truly never met a stranger. Her candid nature and willingness to share her opinions endeared her to those who knew her.
Delia was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Catherine Greevy, as well as her sisters Kitty, Mary, and Sally, and brothers John and Seamus. She is survived by her brother Thomas Greevy, sister Ellen Fleming, and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
A service to celebrate Delia's remarkable life will be held on July 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 505 17th St SE, Auburn, WA 98002. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman whose life was a testament to love, dedication and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Holy Family Catholic School, Auburn in Delia's memory, celebrating her spirit of giving and compassion. Delia Fogarty's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the good fortune of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
