Charles Dennis Gay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Gay, who passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at the age of 78. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his life.

Charles (Chuck) Gay was born in Tacoma, WA. He grew up in Tacoma with parents Barnard & June Gay and his two older sisters Maurene and Wendy. Chuck was very active in the community. He was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed boating, camping, and fishing with his family.

Chuck graduated from Wilson High School and went to Washington State University (WSU). There Chuck was on the Presidents list for having excellent grades. While attending WSU Chuck met his wife Ingrid and they married in August of 1970.

When Chuck graduated WSU he then went into the Army and was stationed in Germany from 1970-1974. While in Germany Chuck and Ingrid had two children Charlene and Bryan. Chuck and Ingrid traveled while stationed in Germany and went to many interesting places, such as the Louvre and learned to snow ski in the Zugspitze (German alps).

Chuck & Ingrid came home from Germany and purchased a home in Puyallup, WA, where they raised their children and enjoyed many family adventures camping, boating, fishing, water skiing, and snow skiing all around the Pacific North West.

Chuck worked for Pierce County Superior Court Clerk's Office in the Judgments Section and later was promoted to Fascial Financial Manager from 1975 - 2009 when he retired.

Chuck and Ingrid enjoyed boating on their 28-foot Bayliner Contessa. They loved going up to the San Juans on the boat for vacations during the summer. They were very active in the boating/yacht clubs of Day Island Yacht Club, Tacoma Yacht Club, and Tacoma Outboard Association (TOA). They built many daffodil floats on boats that paraded along Ruston Way in April every spring. They also participated in Opening Day in Seattle on Lake Washington every May.

Chuck was Commodore (president) of both Day Island Yacht Club and Tacoma Outboard Association (TOA). They attended many fancy occasions/dances of The Grand 14 Yacht Clubs of Puget Sound. They made many new friends in the boating community and enjoyed every day on the water.
