Listen to Obituary

Bonnie Lee (Campbell) Erdahl, long-time Tacoma/Fircrest resident, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died at home with many family members by her side on April 12 at age 89.

Bonnie was born November 27, 1936, in Tacoma, the second of three daughters born to Eileen (Gruver) and Harold Baker Campbell. A 1954 graduate of Stadium High School, she got engaged to her high school sweetheart, Rodney Martin (Marty) Erdahl, at Frisko Freeze -- their favorite hangout. They were married in June 1956 and spent 58 wonderful years together until Marty passed in 2014.

Bonnie is survived by her three children and their spouses, Denise (Ed) Ploof of Fircrest; Darrin (Judy) Erdahl of Nashville; and Delene Losch of Fircrest; many nieces and nephews, six grandchildren Stephanie (Sheriden) Ploof, Jennifer (Devin) Freitas, Halle (Austen Radke) Erdahl, Hanna Erdahl, Kyle Losch, and Ryan Losch; and one great-grandchild, Louise Ploof.

Bonnie is remembered for her love and devotion to her family, fun-loving attitude and sense of humor, great cooking, and delicate way of giving advice.

She was voted “best dressed” in her high school class at Stadium and continued that tradition her whole life. She was a “professional shopper” and enjoyed keeping up with the latest fashions and searching for the perfect lipstick to match her outfits.

After their children grew up, she and Marty joined Fircrest Golf Club and were active in the club where they made many lifelong friends. Bonnie played in the ladies 18-hole group, chaired the golf club Christmas Decorating Committee for many years, served as President of the 18-hole women’s division in 2004, and volunteered on several other committees throughout the years. She also played bridge and Mahjong every week with her friends up until she died.

Donations can be made in Bonnie’s name to the Diabetes Association of Pierce County in honor of her daughter Denise Erdahl Ploof, P.O. Box 110427, Tacoma, WA 98411. Please leave online condolences at www.Gaffneycares.com
