Beth Ann Bucsko (Brooks) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. She was 87 years old.
Beth was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on January 20, 1938, to Herluf and Elizabeth Christensen.
Beth was a proud 1956 graduate of Aquinas Academy. She moved to Northern California, then eventually to Orange County. She worked for the Orange Unified School district at Riverdale Elementary. She was active as the PTA president, Softball Coach and a member of the local Women’s league.
In 1978, she left her friends and family in California and moved with her family back to Tacoma, Washington. In 1979 she started at the University of Puget sound, working in the Memorial Fieldhouse. Beth joined the Admissions office as a Transfer Student Coordinator. She loved the faculty, staff and students. They were family to her. She continued to stay connected to the University, even after retirement. Once a Logger, always a Logger!
Beth was an active member of St. Patricks Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering and supporting the Tacoma Dominicans and many other charities.
Beth loved books, flowers, gardening, puzzles and games of any kind. Especially trivia and Scrabble. She was a big sports fan and was often seen in the stands at the UPS Football and Basketball games. She and Don loved attending the Tacoma Rainiers games in addition to cheering on the Mariners, and Seahawks. Beth was very creative and artistic. She was known for her beautiful handwriting and stressed the importance of the written word.
To Beth, family was everything. She loved being Don’s wife. She was a proud mom and absolutely loved being a Nana. Her love of family included the friends that were also considered family. She made sure you knew that you were loved. That was her superpower.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Herluf and Elizabeth Christensen, brothers James, Donald (Kris), Tom, sister Gretchen and stepson David Bucsko.
Beth is survived by husband Donald Bucsko, daughter Robin Brooks and grandson Jacob Johnson; brother Dick (Patty) Christensen, sisters-in-law Mary Christensen, Phyllis Bucsko and Jane Collins; stepson Rick Parco; beloved nieces and nephews and their extended families; her Aquinas family, UPS family and numerous friends she held dear.
She will be missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held on 4/30/2025 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Tacoma.
Rosary will be held prior to service at 10:15am on 4/30/2025.
In lieu of flowers, Beth would have wanted you to pay it forward with a random act of kindness, plant some pretty flowers in your yard or handwrite a note or card to someone and brighten their day.
