It is with great sadness, but with Eternal Joy, that our beloved Barry Haggerty, our sweet Barry Boy, has gone home to Jesus.
Barry Kent Haggerty was born in Tacoma, WA on January 31, 1960 to his parents Wayne P. (Bud) Haggerty and Gloria (Nieland) Haggerty. He lived at home until age 8, at which time he moved to Yakima Valley School in Selah, WA where he received the specialized care he needed to help him. In 2001, Barry moved back to Tacoma and lived at Puget Sound Assisted Living (PSAL) to be closer to his family. He loved living at PSAL and being able to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and go for many rides with his family, who loved him dearly. Barry passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025 with his family surrounding him in love.
Barry is survived by his older brother David and wife Jeanette, younger sister Dawn (Allred) and husband Dean. He is also survived by his niece, Stephanie McCleary and husband Jason, and their children Faith and Violet. Also niece Melissa Brooks, and husband Anthony, and their children Mason and Aurora. Barry is also survived by many wonderful cousins, friends, and his entire PSAL family.
From the very beginning of his life, Barry taught his family, friends, and anyone he encountered, about love, compassion, and having the most beautiful heartππ. He was non-verbal, and his physical body uncooperative, but it never dampened his beautiful spirit. He had a Purpose. He smiled all the time, and his smile was infectious to everyone.
There are so many memories of Barry and the profound effect he had on not only his family, but anyone he encountered.
He fought a good and loving fight, but his body was tired, his Purpose served. Jesus told his good and faithful servant it was time to go home.
His family was with him when Jesus called him home. It was no coincidence that his going home day was exactly, to the DAY, when his Dad (Bud) went home on March 23, 1992. Jesus knew what He was doing. We know Barry ran, for the first time in his life(!) into the loving arms of Jesus, and his Mama and Dad.
We will miss our sweet Barry Boy, but take such comfort knowing our Merciful God has had everything in His loving hands. Rest in Eternal Hope, Joy and Peace of Spirit, Barry. We will see you again. We love you Forever and Ever (+1), Amen.
