Mary Catherine Manley

Our beloved mother, Mary Catherine Manley, died peacefully October 23, 2019, in Tacoma WA, surrounded by her loving family. 

Mary was born to Paul and Rosemary Maurice in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, September 1, 1936. Her family moved to Seattle, WA, where she attended Blessed Sacrament School and later graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1954.

Mary was married to Hal Cline for 26 years and together they had 5 children. In 1986, she married John Manley and they were together until his passing in 2015. 

Mary enjoyed travel, taking many memorable trips, but spending time surrounded by her family and service to others was her passion. A parishioner of St. Charles Parish for 43 years, she served as a eucharistic minister and member of the grief ministry team. She loved volunteering at the Oldfield Western Heritage/Art Center, modeling vintage wear for Goodwill’s Golden Oldies and serving her Rotary chapter in a variety of ways.With a strong faith in God, Mary was a light to many and genuinely sought to love people well and make a difference in their lives. If she saw a need, she met it. If there was an opportunity to share a smile or an encouraging word, she took it. She was kind, creative, warmly hospitable, had a great sense of humor, loved music and most especially, delighted in her family and will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her brother, Dick Maurice and his wife Leslie, her children and Montana blended family: Liz Cline, Paul and Kim Cline, Teresa and Brad Cunningham, John and Jamie Cline, Catherine and Steve Weholt, Mary and Darrold Schweigert, Bob and Lana Manley, Betsy and Lee Steffanich, Jackie and Bruce Hill, twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

Her funeral mass will be November 4, 2019, 11:00 AM, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7112 S 12th St, Tacoma, WA 98465 with a reception following. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Viewing, Sunday November 3, 2-4 PM, Gaffney Funeral Home, Tacoma.
